2024 CKW Research Symposium wrap-up

On Wednesday we hosted the 2024 CKW Research Symposium, our annual forum recognising, celebrating and promoting our research that is driving health improvements for the CKW community and staff. As a Clinical Directorate, CKW covers many areas of healthcare, from acute health to rural care, to prison health, to satellite hospitals and Minor Injuries, so it was impressive to see research across the spectrum of our care and services.

We heard presentations of current research and quality improvement activities from various teams and individuals, which were fascinating. Professor Claire Rickard, opened as the keynote speaker for the event discussing research around intravenous devices, including the appropriate protocols and timeframes for these devices to prevent infection and re-cannulation. We then embarked on a breadth of topics that covered patient safety, staff welfare and community trust, culture, falls, ECT, feeding/nutrition, podcasting for education, prison health, and delirium.

This year our judging panel consisted of three consumers and winners are listed below. Congratulations winners!
