Redcliffe Hospital Skills Development Service

The RHSDS provides contemporary simulation and technology based learning experiences in a safe environment in collaboration with content, education and simulation experts.  We support multidisciplinary skills development through identification, sourcing, development and delivery of innovative, learner centred models of education in partnership with stream based education services.

Simulation Based Education is a strategy used to mirror, anticipate or amplify real situations with guided experiences in a fully interactive way, it helps healthcare professionals to:

  • acquire clinical and procedural skills without “practising” on patients
  • rehearse rare events
  • behave and communicate more effectively as a team, particularly in a crisis
  • assess performance in an objective way.                                                    (Gaba 2004, Berry & Cooper 2006)
